Grandmother
You start knowing a good player & their character. If the Demon kills them, you die too.
Take a jacket if you go outside, dearie. And your thermos. And your scarf. I have a weak heart, you know. Whatever would I do if you caught cold...or worse?
Storyteller cues
First nightPoint to the grandchild player & show their character token.
Other nightsIf the grandchild was killed by the Demon, the Grandmother dies too. ◦

How to run it (Storyteller)
How to play
- Treat your Grandchild as a VIP: their survival is mechanically linked to yours, so coordinate protection, safe-seat them, and advocate loudly for keeping them alive.
- Go public early: revealing both your role and your Grandchild's identity gives the town a confirmed good player, which is rare and high-value information worth the exposure.
- Timing the reveal: if your Grandchild is a powerful role like a Slayer or Exorcist, consider holding their identity back briefly so evil cannot immediately target them, but do not wait so long that the information is wasted.
- Your death at night confirms your Grandchild was killed by the Demon — use this information in advance by telling the town 'if I die tonight, the Demon killed X', giving your death a guaranteed investigative payoff.
- Most common mistake: treating your Grandchild as someone to protect silently. Keeping them secret defeats the point — the town needs the confirmed-good claim to make good nominations and trust chains.
- If you were poisoned on night one, your Grandchild information may be wrong, so watch for inconsistencies between what you were told and other in-play information before staking your reputation entirely on that claim.
How to bluff as the Grandmother
- Claim a confirmed-good player as your Grandchild, ideally someone who is already semi-trusted or has made a public claim — this validates them and makes your bluff harder to disprove.
- Choose a Grandchild who is actually evil: if they are executed, you do not die, which is an immediate tell, so pick a living good player who your team will keep alive or who dies naturally rather than by execution.
- If your fake Grandchild is killed by the Demon at night, you must fake-die or be caught — coordinate with your Demon in advance so they avoid killing your claimed Grandchild, or be prepared to immediately claim poisoning as an excuse for surviving.
- A sharp town will notice that a real Grandmother who survives their Grandchild's demon-kill is impossible — any night your 'Grandchild' dies and you live is a hard contradiction you must explain away with drunk or poison claims.
- Best bluff window is mid-game: early bluffing risks your fake Grandchild being a Minion the town later discovers, while late bluffing gives you less time to build trust around the false confirmed-good claim.
Key interactions
The Spy can register as a good character, meaning the Grandmother may be shown the Spy as their Grandchild with a good role token. The Grandmother will then actively protect an evil player and link their survival to them, which is a significant strategic disaster for good.
The Storyteller may show the Recluse to the Grandmother as a Minion or Demon character instead of a good one, meaning the Grandmother might believe their Grandchild is evil when they are actually good — undermining trust in both players.
If the Grandmother is poisoned on night one, the player and character they learn may be entirely false, but the actual Grandchild link in the Grimoire is still set correctly, so they will still die when the real Grandchild is killed — creating a situation where their stated Grandchild and their mechanical Grandchild are different people.
If Riot is in play and the Grandchild dies by execution during the Riot chain, evil wins immediately — the Grandmother must be extremely aggressive about blocking any execution of their Grandchild during a Riot game.
If the Yaggababble's passive ability kills the Grandchild during the day, the Grandmother dies immediately in the daytime as well, which can be shocking and informative — a sudden daytime Grandmother death with no execution points strongly to Yaggababble being in play.
