About Scriptorium

What is Scriptorium?

Scriptorium is a free, fan-made toolkit for Blood on the Clocktower — the place to discover custom scripts, build and validate your own, and learn every character inside out.

Running and playing Blood on the Clocktower means juggling a lot: which characters are in play, how they interact, whether a homebrew script is even balanced, and what your own role can actually do. Scriptorium pulls all of that into one place.

Browse a deeply filterable directory of community scripts, build and AI-validate your own creations, explore how any two characters interact, and read clear, strategic coaching for all 181 characters — from how to play them to how to bluff or beat them. No account needed to explore.

What you can do

Frequently asked questions

Is Scriptorium free?

Yes. Browsing the script directory, character pages, and Storyteller tools is completely free and needs no account. You only sign in if you want to publish a script or save bookmarks.

Is Scriptorium official or affiliated with The Pandemonium Institute?

No. Scriptorium is an independent, fan-made toolkit. Blood on the Clocktower is a trademark of Steven Medway and The Pandemonium Institute, and Scriptorium is not endorsed by or affiliated with them.

How does the AI script builder and validator work?

Build & Validate can assemble a balanced script from your ideas and check an existing one for balance problems — team ratios, missing support, and jinx conflicts. Treat its output as informed guidance to refine, not a final ruling.

Can I publish my own custom script?

Yes. Go to Build & Validate, paste or compose your script, and publish it to the directory (up to 25 per day). Anyone can then browse and bookmark it.

Where does the character data come from?

Scriptorium covers all 181 characters across Trouble Brewing, Bad Moon Rising, Sects & Violets, the Experimental set, plus Fabled and Loric. Each page lists the ability, when it acts, reminder tokens, jinxes, and strategic coaching.

How do I get a PDF or open a script in the official tool?

On any script page, use “Open in Script Editor”. It loads the script — including the night order — into the official Blood on the Clocktower tool, where you can print or save the PDF.

What is the difference between the Interaction Explorer and Script Lens?

The Interaction Explorer explains how any two characters play together. Script Lens analyses a complete script for your specific seat and role, then gives you a tailored game plan.

A script of mine was archived here — can I claim it?

Yes. Open the script and choose “Is this your script?” to submit a claim with proof of authorship. We verify it before transferring the script to your account.
