Zombuul
Each night*, if no-one died today, choose a player: they die. The 1st time you die, you live but register as dead.
I do not. Understand. Your ways. Fellow human. Show me. The dirt. Where the holy. Lay. Sleeping. I too. Must sleep. Soon.

Jinxes
If the Summoner summons a dead player into the Zombuul, the Zombuul has already "died once".
How to run it (Storyteller)
How to play
- Claim a role that plausibly skips nights — Recluse, Monk, or a no-wake town role — so your night activity is never suspicious and your silence during nominations is explainable.
- When you have already died once, lean into your fake death hard: stop talking strategically, vote reluctantly, act grieved — good players almost never nominate corpses, buying you unlimited kill nights.
- Coordinate with minions to ensure at least one kill happens via another route on days you want to skip your trigger, preserving your kill for nights where town is in a vulnerable state.
- If you fear the Assassin is in play and minions know it too, warn them privately that using the Assassin on you wastes your second life — arrange a different target for the Assassin.
- The most common mistake is killing too aggressively early and drawing Undertaker or Empath reads that narrow the demon pool down to you — let executions thin numbers first, then accelerate kills in the final rounds.
How to fight the Zombuul
- Track kill frequency rigorously: a night with no execution and no death means the demon is Zombuul — on a confirmed no-kill night with no execution, you have identified the demon type, which narrows your search dramatically.
- After an execution appears to kill the demon, watch for continued night kills — if deaths resume, the 'dead' nominee was the Zombuul using its first life, so immediately re-nominate that player the following day.
- Use the Assassin interaction as a hard counter: if your town has an Assassin-equivalent or can engineer a Slayer shot on the suspected Zombuul after its first death, you bypass the resurrection entirely and end the game.
- Do not assume a quiet night means a protected Monk target — it may mean the Zombuul had a kill but was dry-fired because an execution happened; distinguish these carefully before drawing strategic conclusions.
- When the Mayor's win condition is relevant, remember a first-dead Zombuul already counts as dead for that check — do not rely on Mayor bounce as a clean win if Zombuul is suspected, since the evil team may have already set this up.
Key interactions
The Assassin is the only minion whose kill bypasses the Zombuul's resurrection, making it the single most reliable way for either side to exploit or eliminate the second life. Evil should prevent minions from accidentally wasting this on the Zombuul; good should try to identify the Assassin and use it as a targeted Zombuul counter once the demon is suspected.
If the Summoner places a dead player into the Zombuul role, that Zombuul arrives already having 'used' its first death, meaning any subsequent execution or kill ends it immediately with no resurrection. Good teams that know a Summoner is in play should factor this in — a mid-game Zombuul from a Summoner is far more fragile than a starting one.
A Zombuul registering as dead after its first kill satisfies the Mayor's win condition threshold as though it were truly dead, so the evil team can engineer a false 'game over' state where Zombuul appears to count among the dead majority. Good players must verify actual player counts and not concede based on apparent death totals when Zombuul is suspected.
If the Zombuul is drunk or poisoned on a night when it would otherwise kill, the kill silently fails with no announcement — critically, if it is already 'dead' and becomes poisoned, the storyteller makes no announcement at all, so the Zombuul loses a kill turn invisibly. Good teams cannot use a poison-night kill silence as diagnostic evidence in this case, because no announcement separates a poisoned Zombuul night from a kill-suppressed one.
