God of Ug
One Ug hat. When wear Ug hat, must speak one sound at a time but vote twice. If fail, pass Ug hat.
Blessed are my children, for they see the beauty in simple things.
How to run it (Storyteller)
Add the God of Ug to inject a social-constraint mechanic that disrupts normal communication rhythms without providing information or kill power. The hat passes on failure, so track the current hat-holder at all times and enforce the one-sound-per-syllable speech rule consistently to prevent the constraint from collapsing. The double vote is a meaningful mechanical reward, so be precise about when a player is 'wearing' the hat versus having forfeited it mid-statement.
Playing with the God of Ug — as good
- If you hold the Ug hat, plan your nominations and voting statements before you speak — the one-sound-at-a-time rule punishes improvisation, so pre-structure your argument mentally.
- The double vote is powerful enough to swing a close execution; hold the hat through a critical nomination rather than risking it on low-stakes conversation.
- Deliberately passing information while wearing the hat is difficult, so use gestures, written notes, or pre-agreed shorthand signals with teammates to supplement your constrained speech.
- If you expect to lose the hat, time your failure for a moment when the double vote matters least, not during a nomination you care about.
- Track who currently holds the hat — the hat-holder's doubled vote is a target for evil disruption, so protect that player's ability to reach nominations safely.
Playing with the God of Ug — as evil
- Bait the hat-holder into breaking the speech rule during a critical discussion so they forfeit the double vote before a key nomination.
- If you can acquire the hat yourself, use the double vote to swing executions toward good players while your constrained speech provides cover for vague or misleading claims.
- Create pressure for the hat-holder to speak quickly — fast-paced crosstalk, interruptions, or sudden nominations can cause rule failures and strip the double vote from a powerful good player.
- If the hat passes to a known good player who communicates critical information, force them to speak in the constrained mode so their testimony is fragmented and harder for the town to parse.
- Evil players without the hat can speak freely and cleanly, so use that contrast to appear more credible and organized than the constrained hat-holder.
